Beside the governor, Louisiana’s executive branch has six statewide elected officials who have various constitutionally dictated responsibilities. Louisiana voters also elect, from districts, eight of the 11 members of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, which sets public school education policy, and the five members of the Public Service Commission, which regulates public utilities and motor carriers.
